Instructors: Julia

Description:

Introduction to piano is a class for aspiring pianists. Learn legato, staccato, bass clef and treble clef, how to sight read and interpret notes, correct hand positioning on the keys, the different petals, music theory, time signatures and rhythms, major and minor scales, chords, and to truly love your instrument. Julia has played piano for nine years, a hobby she truly loves. She has played for her local church, at senior homes, and plans to enter professional competitions in the upcoming school year. Her favorite songs to play are waltz in C sharp minor by Chopin, prelude in G minor by Rachmaninoff, love's sorrow by Liebesleid, and Clair de Lune by Debussy. She has been in her school’s symphonic and jazz bands for four years, helping out in Pit orchestra for school musicals like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and plans to take AP music theory as a rising senior. Someday, after studying the piano and music theory as a minor in college, Julia hopes to follow in her uncle’s footsteps and earn acceptance into Juilliard. Playing piano is something that connects with her whole life, and she is so excited and happy to be sharing that feeling by tutoring younger students in piano.
