Introduction to Ballet

This class is archived!

Instructors: Colette

Description:

This class is designed for those with little to no experience in ballet. In this class, we will follow the progression of a typical ballet lesson including performing exercises at the barre and center, executing basic stretches, and learning choreography from the classical ballets such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and others. Although students can expect to learn a lot from these classes, practicing on their own is essential. One of the best ways to make progress in ballet is by stretching and I ask that students take time to stretch in between classes. I will provide a short and simple stretching routine that students can follow along to in between weekly classes. Materials: Students will need socks or ballet slippers to participate. They will also need something stable to hold onto for exercises at the barre (such as a chair) and a small open space to perform exercises. I ask that students don't wear loose fitting clothing and that they tie their hair back for classes.
